On Saturday March 28 we had two recitals showcasing the hard work of our violin, piano, voice, guitar and drum students (& teachers!) In the sunny Toyota Auditorium at the Cambridge Centre for the Arts, family & friends cheered on the performers as they wowed us with drum solos, piano duets and Les Miserables serenades.
Recital days are always busy ones for the teachers and partners at the studio, with lots of planning and set-up leading up to showtime, as well as calming nerves and encouraging students to gather their courage right up to the minute they go on. But they are so rewarding, the proud looks on parents’ faces, the confidence and relief of a student walking off stage. This is why we do it. We know performing isn’t easy and you can prepare as much as possible, but there is only one way to really put it to the test. Performing is one of those (many) parts of music learning that develops vital life skills – focus under pressure, time management, poise, spontaneous problem-solving and of course courage!
